this sounds like a pretty good idea to me. software i can get, for free, that does almost exactly the same stuff as the really expensive programmes i have now.
open office- is an alternative for microsoft word
Gimp- is an alternative for photoshop
mozilla firefox- is an alternative for IE
blender- is for 3D animation
skype- for calling people over the internet.
