parody and satire
i think that parody and satire laws should depend on the content of the parody/satire and that the author/publisher should have a say. i think that if the parody/satire is very offensive or is insulting to a person/group of people then it's not ok. the original authors/creators should be able to ask the website for it to be taken down. but i think that anything that can be considered harmless fun, that is not offending or insulting anyone, should be ok but the creator should credit the original authors/creators. also parody/satire shouldn't be allowed if the person borrowing material is getting some type of monetary benifit from it.
Remix
in the remix lecture the radiohead reckoner remix project was mentioned as an example. i first heard about this project a couple of weeks after it started, a couple of bands i like did remixes for it.
this one is my favourite.
i like how in this remix project all of them are so different from the original song. a lot of different musicians, and people that aren't neccesarily musicians, have come at this idea from a whole lot of different genres and backgrounds resulting in a whole lot of very different sounding songs created from this one song.
although this isn't an actual remix this is an example of an interesting usage of the internet. this band are all aged around 19 and havn't yet releasesd an album but they have generated alot of interest and exposure by releasing a series of download only songs.

free software
this sounds like a pretty good idea to me. software i can get, for free, that does almost exactly the same stuff as the really expensive programmes i have now.

Gimp- is an alternative for photoshop
mozilla firefox- is an alternative for IE

case study 2 and 3
case 2
these are way too similar to be accidental http://www.benedict.com/visual/monkeys/monkeys.aspx
case 3
i think that it shouldn't be illegal to use other peoples work in "remixes" as long as it's not for profit and it should definatly be a case of fair use. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6eHcQhUH7Q&feature=player_embedded
